The website aims to showcase established, and fast rising African Artists with unique expressions of art. On Usanii, you can discover artists and their works, exhibitions, museums, shows, galleries, fairs, auctions and so much more.
To say that Usanii is dedicated to promoting African Art is indeed the very essence of what we do. Usanii is envisioned to be the industry leader fostering the sustainability of People in the African Art space. Usanii will bridge the gap as it strives for transparency between talented Artists, curators, art collectors, museums and galleries, and what’s hot in the contemporary Art space on the African continent.
Usanii was founded in June 2016 by the same three friends who founded Qeturah.com; Keturah Ovio, Olaoluwa Oluro, and Victor Akadu.
Underneath her sass, lies an unapologetic geek who is a trained Software Engineer. She helped found 2 startups in Malaysia before moving to Lagos to found Qeturah.com and Usanii.
Ola as the team calls him, is a software academia. His quest to master trending programming languages comes as no surprise to those close to him. Olaoluwa is interested in building sustainable products and companies.
Victor’s expertise lies in Marketing and Management. After creating impact in a couple of companies in Malaysia, Indonesia, Dubai, and in Nigeria; he was intrigued enough to be a part of a Nigerian company fostering sustainability.
Shika holds an undergraduate degree in Communication Design at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is currently doing her Master’s in Graphic Arts at the University of the West of England. She is a UI/UX associate in training here at Usanii and is on a quest to conquer UI/UX design on the continent.
Kingsley is an associate at Usanii excited to learn the ropes of working in a fast-paced development environment building a couple of cool stuffs. He self-taught himself on how to code, and occasionally writes about Ruby on Rails on tech blogs such as Sitepoint. Together with Ola, they realize all of Shika’s designs.
Alabi Ola Dimeji was born in Lagos state in October 1987, albeit his state of origin being Ondo state. He studied Art at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos where he graduated as a Higher National Diploma (HND) holder in painting 2013/2014. His early career began at the age of 4 when he began practice with sand, colored pencil, crayon, charcoal etc. At age 15, he worked as an apprentice for a sculptor after which his father introduced him to an artist specializing in painting where he got to improve his skills.
In 2008, he emerged on the top 10 list selected to exhibit their works in Lagos, Abuja, and Amsterdam for the International Artist competition and exhibition show organized by the African Artist Foundation (AAF) and Nigerian Breweries (NB) titled "Unbreakable Nigeria Spirit". He also participated in the AARC gallery art competition and exhibition titled” Nigeria at work” in Lagos.
In 2013, Nike Art gallery in conjunction with ConocoPhillips organized an Art competition and exhibition titled “Convergence”. Out of 10 great artists, He made the top 7 artists in Lagos and Abuja.View portfolio
Ekanem Elijah was born on the 30th of March 1982. He studied Fine Art at Ahmadu- Bello University, Nigeria from 2000-2005 (specialized in Painting). Using black and white charcoal, pastel, acrylics and oils, on paper and canvas, he particularly depicts female faces cutting across all walks of life; skin type (from puberty to old-age). Simply put: he dynamically celebrates his subjects with lines and multicolours.View portfolio
